Coconuts grow on palm trees in warm climates around the world such as South East Asia, the Caribbean, parts of Africa and South America. Coconut is used for its water, milk, oil, and “meat”. Each component of the Coconut has its own health benefits including containing healthy fats, protein, antioxidants, fibre and essential minerals.

Coconut oil in particular is showing exciting possibilities in the world of brain health. The human brain needs a continual supply of fuel and when this continual supply is interrupted brain cells begin to die. In the short-term, this can cause symptoms such as headaches, brain fog, and tiredness.  Long-term exposure to environments that deplete sources of brain fuel from effectively getting into the cells leads to neurodegenerative diseases. Coconut oil may improve memory by providing energy to neuron’s in the brain so they can function. Coconut oil also helps protect these neurons by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.
