SUPERFOOD // CHERRIES:
Cherries are little red gems rich in vitamins, minerals, fibre, and disease-fighting antioxidants including anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are believed to reduce inflammation and inhibit the death of nerve cells. They may even help to disrupt the formation of amyloid plaques associated with diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
Regular berry consumption may reduce the risk of dementia, and has been associated with improvements in cognitive functioning, including learning and memory. Cherries are also a natural source of melatonin, which helps to promote healthy sleep and induce a sense of calm.
