Research has found that eating berries can help the brain stay healthy by protecting cells from free radical damage, thanks for their high level of antioxidants. Berries also support proper messaging and signaling between neurons. The Nurses’ Health Study found that women who ate several servings of strawberries and blueberries a week had slower rates of cognitive decline.
