Beans; whether it’s black beans, chickpeas, soybeans or kidney beans, are necessary for the brain and body! One important benefit of beans is that they provide the brain with glucose, an excellent source of fuel. By digesting slowly in the body, beans provide the brain with a consistent and nutrient filled source of energy.

Beans are also fibre filled and great for preventing gut-associated diseases. Consumption of beans may improve the intestinal barrier function allowing for increased good bacteria in the gut. Due to the gut to brain axis, a healthy gut is imperative for good brain health.
