Does making a cup of Matcha intimidate you?

Use these tips as a guide on how to make a cup of Matcha in your own home.

What is Matcha?

Matcha is a Japanese tea made from finely powdered green tea leaves. It contains a rich earthy flavour profile, with grassy notes, and a slight bitter undertone.

Matcha Benefits:

This ancient tea is high in antioxidants and caffeine. More so than green tea. This is because the tea leaves are ground up and mixed into the drink, instead of steeped and discarded.

How To Make A Cup of Matcha:

STEP 1: Sift The Powder

If your matcha has formed clumps, sift it into a small bowl or mug.

STEP 2: Add Water Then Whisk

Pour a small amount of hot water into the bowl or mug containing the matcha powder. Using a bamboo whisk, whisk vigorously side to side (not circular).

STEP 3: Whisk Until Foam Appears

Whisk vigorously in a back & forth or zig zag motion until a slightly frothy top layer has formed.

STEP 4: Add More Water or Milk

Keep your tea traditional and add more hot water. Alternatively make it an iced or hot latte with your milk of choice. Enjoy.
