Chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, are the featured ingredients in my Chickpea Savoury Pancakes. Chickpeas are so versatile to use in an entrée, snack or dessert (yes, even dessert!) since their high protein and fibre content helps to slow the release of glucose (sugar) into the blood stream. In other words, chickpeas are a very blood sugar balancing and filling snack. They, too, are considered a detox superfood, since they help to move contents throughout the digestive system and support elimination. You can also expect to boost your intake of manganese and folate when you consume chickpeas, which help to support bone development, wound healing and provide a healthy boost for your metabolism.
